Jozzy Walker was the daughter of the very successful financier turned entreprenuer Baleen Walker. While her mother was rescuing troubled small businesses, Jozzy was often getting in trouble, and from a very early age. She bounced back and forth between the local public school, Carniville Academy, and the notorious reform school on the remote northernmost Carnipelagian island, Moon Beach Girl's Academy. When she was home, she was known to skip school, drink too much, and take advantage of her busy mother's often distracted upbringing, and usually in the company of shady older guys. But once she was at reform school (or what was originally a reform school), she discovered water polo and... girls.

When her older cousin, Deximo Zincavage, was selected to be the new cheif photographer for Venus Island Girl, Jozzy's mother pleaded with him to get her a job at the magazine, and he did. Though Jozzy would return to Carniville Island to finally work a steady job, which she did well, and evenually became a writer, she would return to Moon Island frequently, and would also earn a part-time gig as a professional water polo goalie for the powerhouse Moon Beach Mermaids.
